Where Will You Sleep Tonight
A lullaby. Something Neil Young might play, if only...
Rock/acoustic/folk/pop

Story behind the song
I wrote the chorus to this song right after my daughter Emma was born. (she's 4 now...) But, none of the verses I came up with were what I was looking for. 4 years later while showing this song to Ryan (producer) I wrote the verse melody and then the lyrics.
This is essentially about two girls; one here in Canada - she has everything she needs and is a happy healthy little girl. The other girl is from a poor village in Africa. Though she has nothing, she is still a happy little girl. But, what great things she could achieve with just a little help from us?
Lyrics
Where Will You Sleep Tonight?
Safe and sound, she lays down, my own baby girl
Fresh from God, she loves me so, it is a perfect world
Stay with me, daddy stay, Ia€™ll hold you hand in mine
Let us pray, for all the children, waiting for the sun to shine
Where will you sleep tonight?
Will you sleep deep tonight?
You are loved there
And oh so dear
Where will you sleep tonight?
Turn the earth, half way round, another girl lives there
Born in love, yet to her, life is not always fair
Though dirt poor, happy rich, somehow makes her smile
a€˜tis a gift, to our world, the Faith of a little child
(bridge)
And as I watch her sleeping I wonder if I will ever know
Why I have (been given) so much to give, and ita€™s so hard to let go
I dream about a time when all the world will wake up to the call
I try so hard to believe that sleep will someday bless them all
And as I watch her sleep I wonder will I ever know
Why a€™ve I been given so much to give, but I just cana€™t let go
I dream about a time when all the world will wake up to the call
I try so hard to believe that sleep will someday come and bless them all
