Trash-pop, guitar rock and melodic miscellany.
Not so much a band as a bloke with a guitar and a laptop, The Smivets deliver a genre-bending blend of pop, rock, punk, prog and many other monosyllables.

Story behind the song
I hope old Wagner isn't spinning in his grave over this... This was produced for the Coconut Blues Club classical challenge, Sep 2010. Yet again Jude Law set a cruel but irresistable task (produce a piece of classical music in 2 weeks) but we are moths drawn to the flame. This is my two-fingered attempt at one of my favourite tunes in the repertoire, not quite up to Franz Lizst's piano version but 'twill have to do. Couldn't resist rocking up the climax hehe.

I love the way the track kicks in after the gentle piano playing - kind of Emerson Lake & Palmer with a touch of magic!

Nice use of dynamics on the piano and what a great ride when it takes off at about 1:49 or so. Nice work, Steve!!!
