Story behind the song
'Make Me Fall' shares a common history with a couple of earlier songs, in that it had very few established lyrics, even though we performed it live quite regularly. Each concert had a very different lyrical version. What it meant to one person in one concert was, understandably quite different from what it meant to someone else at another.
When the final lyrics did come, it was while on tour in Denmark riding in the YFC van with Julia sitting nice and close beside me.
It's about the trap you can fall into of believing you are as good (or bad) as people say you are. The music came from a jam at an outdoor gig we were doing somewhere in Denmark.
Throwing tongues is a Danish game. It's not nice.
Lyrics
Make Me Fall
Turn around and face the breeze
You peddle and push me to my knees
Amazing me with love
Decisions that never change
And you still live with something strange
And glowing
Catching rain and throwing tongues
Is how we played when we were young
And never tire
To look behind at what I've done
Never think of what may become
Now we grind and favour
If I wanted to save us all
When I'm tempted to save us all
If I thought that is what you want
Then make me fall
Make me fall
A million faces from the sea
Why do they all look at me
As I bathe in glory
We have only borrowed grace
From what we owe to live in this place
And yes that scares me
If I wanted to save us all
When I'm tempted to save us all
If I thought that is what you want
Then make me fall
Make me fall
The sacrifice for saving souls
Was raised and lowered long ago
I have everything I need
In my heart apart from me
We both breathe in the same things
If I wanted to save us all
When I'm tempted to save us all
If I thought that is what you want
Then make me fall
Make me fall
