Story behind the song
Slide played on my Asher Lap Steel using open 'G' tuning (D-G-D-G-B-D). Bass played with the TriplePlay and Magix Standup Bass vst. Drums programmed with Magix Vita Rhythm Guitar played on my Carvin SH65B Trying out my new Asher Lap Steel Guitar on 'Sleep Walk', the iconic 50's hit by Santo and Johnny, an Italian-American rock and roll music duo from Brooklyn, New York, comprising brothers Santo and Johnny Farina. They are known best for their instrumental melody "Sleep Walk", which became a regional success and eventually scored the top of the Billboard pop chart when it was released nationally during 1959. At present, Santo is semi-retired and Johnny currently tours and records new material with his own band. Johnny is also the president of Aniraf, Inc., an international record company based in New York.

First hearing Al Massey's resonator yesterday and now you on the lapsteel.I put that thought of buying a lapsteel to rest but now hearing your beautyful tunes it's a must have NR.1 !!! The resonator yust stepped down to NR.2 now... Its no good for my wallet entering your musical world my friend.... Wonderful playing!
Instant smiles & memories, with just enough of your character bleeding through. And now I want another guitar, but I could never handle that slidewith the smooth confidence you do.

A super fine track that I immediately put the needle back to the start of, and respun a couple of times. A joyous sound.

I remember this tune coming out of that one speaker over the back seat from the AM radio while in the back seat of my parents car many years ago...What memories this conjures up...! Your lap steel sounds really warm and melodic and is a real nice addition for you. Glad i caught this one! Sounds great!

What can I say that hasn't already been said Michael. An awesome version. You know I never knew the title of this iconic song, but I remember hearing (and loving) the slide guitar sounds on the record. You have captured the embodiment perfectly. Your talent is endless…Bravo. Congrats on your new lap steel guitar...

A very nice version Michael. This is indeed a classic. I recorded a version of this some time ago but have never attempted a 'slide guitar' version. Mine was in the 'Twangy' style of The Shadows/Duane Eddie. You're getting some great sounds here. I like it.

Oh yes..... you were right Michael, the remebrances coming back in my mind now......Ha!!! ;) Santo&Johnny, what a sound!! My Capitan, you did it once again, turning the time back with your great music ability and flawless musicality: one is asking himself if this is really only a cover or the two artists are perfoming once again..... Fantastic soundscape, the lap steel guitar is to die for ( supreme skills on it ), the arrangement superb, with your fine own touch and interpretation of course.....Man, you did me such a great pleasure today with this song!!! THANK YOU CAPITAN!!!! ;)

A beautiful version of a classic. The Asher sounds great Michael. Great job and well executed on the lap top! Do you palm the strings behind the slide or use a finger? Is the slide steel or glass?
