As a refugee from the 60's and the coffee house era, I have been playing as a solo artist as well as in various duets, trios and bands from Canada to England, India, Nepal, USA, and places in between... played in classic rock, country and folk bands. I try to keep my songs as light and personal as possible in the acoustic genre. A lot of my songs speak on social issues and I try to relate to the common man/woman (like myself) and the things that are important in our journey thru this time span called life. The recording/production is not professional by any means. I usually try to do one-off takes and work around the tracks to enhance the sound in the limited time and equipment I have available. I hope some of these songs will touch a place in your heart or evoke a feeling of shared consciousness. All comments and critiques are welcome. All the best.

Story behind the song
Wrote this song in the 70's after watching an announcement of stockpiling more missiles. Although the attention has been drawn away from the issue towards other issues as global warming, global economy,etc...there still remains an arsenal that could destroy life as we know it, many times over.
Lyrics
Honey babe, when you read this note You'll know why I'm not there Excuse the haste with which I wrote My hand was shakin' in fear Enclosed please find today's headlines They sure speak loud and clear And don't bother comin' around Cos I'm gettin' outta town. A spokesman for the USA Said we're buildin' up the missile race We don't know how many the Reds have now But we can't take second place But don't you worry about a thing It's only for our self-defence But if them damned commies don't learn how to live We're gonna have to teach 'em some sense. Well,Honey babe, it just don't seem right That it should be top priority Do they want peace or do they wanna fight It don't make much sense to me It looks like they're lightin' a match to the fuse The future ain't hard to tell If they keep on goin' the way they are They're gonna blow us all to hell. Honey babe, I'm gonna end this note And send it to you right away I hope when you read it you'll pack your bags And get out without delay Don't know how much longer we got But it looks like it's comin' soon It almost seems like the judgements of God These damned ol' missile blues.

Howdy Gordy, Well, indeed I do hear a bit of Arlo influence in this fine tune, and superbly written as well. Kind of makes ya want throw in that old Carter Family song...."You're Gonna Miss Me When I'm Gone" for extra measure after hearin' this one....like the missiles could fly any moment!!! Your song kind of brings back the memories of that time of the Cold War, but with a bit of humor in the melody and inflection of the singing!!!! Well done......with my applause, Gordy....Well Done!!!!!!! Respectfully, Wade

Bravo! Good to hear an old pseudo protest song! Bigtime Arlo influence here...and another song with good lyrics, rhyme, and meter. Love the fingerpickin' with all the blue colors and a touch of ragtime. Good tune here.
